Cap's Place, operating since the 1920s, is the area's best-known dining landmark.

It's also worth knowing that despite the town's affluence, its public schools are zoned into the Deerfield Beach school system (North Crest Elementary, Deerfield Beach Middle and High) rather than a separate Lighthouse Point district -- a detail that surprises more than a few relocating families.

Waterfront single-family homes here typically start around seven figures and range well beyond that depending on frontage and dock access, with condominiums offering the more accessible entry point into the market.
